CoolSculpting® is still the hottest technology for reducing fat and contouring your body. Just ask Dr. Normand Miller and hundreds of satisfied patients who have achieved excellent results with this proven and safe body shaping technology over the last five years.*
CoolSculpting® has been proven to provide a long-term reduction of fat collections.* This FDA-approved, non-invasive technology is designed to treat the abdomen, love handles, bra rolls, upper arms, inner and outer thighs, under the buttocks, and under the chin.
If you have stubborn, unwanted fat that is diet and exercise resistant, you may benefit from this treatment. CoolSculpting® is not a weight loss program, but helps to contour and re-shape problem areas. And, with two CoolSculpting® machines in both of our offices, we can treat two areas at once!
HOW DOES COOLSCULPTING® WORK?
Fat cells grow or diminish in size as we gain or lose weight, respectively. While other non-invasive fat reduction procedures shrink fat cells in the targeted areas (which means they could get bigger if you gain weight), CoolSculpting® helps your body to naturally process and shed the targeted fat cells.
CoolSculpting® freezes fat cells (a process called cryolipolysis) through a controlled cooling method while sparing the skin, nerves and muscles. Cryolipolysis slowly dissolves fat cells, which are then reabsorbed and shed by your body.
WHY AVCMD FOR CoolSculpting®?
The AVCMD team is certified for the use of CoolSculpting® by CoolSculpting® University and has performed over 4,000 cycles to date.
AVCMD was one of the first practices in New Hampshire to not only offer this new technology, but to also bring in Dual CoolSculpting® and the CoolSculpting® Advantage applicator. That means we can treat two areas in less time.* For example, both love handles, or the back and the lower abdomen, can be treated in one session.

HOW DO I KNOW IF I AM A CANDIDATE FOR COOLSCULPTING®?
People who have stubborn, unwanted fat that seems to be diet and exercise resistant may benefit from this treatment. CoolSculpting® is not a weight loss program, but does help to contour and re-shape problem areas, including love handles, bra rolls, abdomen, upper arms, under the chin, under the buttocks, and inner and outer thighs.
DOES COOLSCULPTING® WORK ON MEN?
CoolSculpting® is not just for women! Dr. Miller treats many men who want to reduce excess fat around their chest, waist and abdomen. CoolSculpting® is a good non-surgical option for body re-contouring that diet and exercise alone cannot accomplish.
WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT DURING A COOLSCULPTING® SESSION? DOES IT HURT?
When the device is first placed on the area, you may feel some pressure and localized coldness. This feeling should diminish over time. In fact, many patients watch TV, read, listen to music, check their email or nap!*

HOW LONG IS A SESSION AND HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL I NEED?
Dr. Miller will customize your individualized CoolSculpting® treatment plan to your specific body shaping goals. The length of the session will depend on the number of areas being treated. Although CoolSculpting® is shown to reduce fat in one session, your treatment plan may include additional sessions for best results.*
WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT AFTER A CoolSculpting® SESSION?
Some patients experience slight bruising, numbness, redness or discomfort in the treated area. These symptoms tend to resolve over time on their own.* You can get back to your regular activities as soon as you feel comfortable enough to do so!
You will be expected to massage the treated area to promote the dissolution of fat cells. Results begin to appear approximately three weeks after treatment, and the most noticeable results show after two to three months; however, your body will continue to shed fat cells for up to six months after the treatment.*
DOES CoolSculpting® TREAT CELLULITE?
Cellulite is dimpled, uneven skin that tends to appear on your thighs, hips, and buttocks. Cellulite is more common in women and no amount of diet or exercise will completely get rid of cellulite. CoolSculpting® does not treat cellulite. Dr. Miller recommends Cellulaze™, also offered at AVCMD, to treat cellulite.
ARE THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS?
Although nearly 95% of our patients see a noticeable reduction in fact collection, it is important to note that not all patients see results (approximately 5%). In these situations, we would recommend laser assisted liposuction, performed under local anesthesia.
There is a small risk of Paradoxical Adipose Hyperplasia (PAH), which is a complication where the fat collection gets larger in the 3- to 6-month mark following CoolSculpting. This risk is estimated to occur in 1 of 800 to 1000 treatments. In this rare situation, we recommend a minimally invasive liposuction with microcannula (a very small liposuction tube) typically done under local anesthesia in our office. Dr. Miller has successfully resolved several PAH cases this way and would be happy to answer any questions you have.
IS COOLSCULPTING® AFFORDABLE?

The idea of freezing technology seems dangerous.
CoolSculpting® was developed by Harvard University scientists Dieter Manstein, MD, PhD and R. Rox Anderson, MD, who observed that some children got dimples after eating popsicles. This simple observation lead to the idea that cold can selectively affect fat. This insight is behind the clinically-proven cryolipolysis science on which CoolSculpting® technology is based.
Clinical studies show that “prolonged, controlled local tissue cooling can induce selective fat cell reduction and subsequent loss of subcutaneous fat, without damaging the overlying skin.”
