The tumescent technique eliminates the need for general anesthesia or for intravenous narcotics and sedatives. The combination of tumescent local anesthesia with the use of microcannulas (less than 3 mm) allows a safe procedure and prevent many of the complications typically associated with liposuction under general anesthesia.
